Guess how much money we plunk down on the skin care market? A whopping $11 billion – yes, “b” for billion. That’s proof a lady loves a good skin care routine. So, if we’re going to invest our hard-earned money in a smart routine, we might as well pick the best of the best.
Who better to turn to than our favorite celebrities? After all, some of them make a living based on the fact they have flawless skin and ripped bodies. However, it can be difficult to sort through the crowd and know who’s promoting a product because genuinely love it or because someone’s paying them to say they love it.
Below, you’ll find enjoy celebrity skin care routines that aren’t dictated by their bottom line. They’re simple pleasures we can start instituting today – from applying sunblock, to donning a mask while we do our hair. Let’s get to it!
1. Sleep with a Humidifier
That’s such an easy routine to fall into, right? Just pop on the humidifier before you tuck yourself into clean and soft sheets.
Victoria’s Secret supermodel, Bridget Malcolm, takes her beauty regimes seriously. And she’s a firm believer in hydration. The first thing she always ensures is that her humidifier is turned on before going to sleep.
Then, along the lines of hydration and moisture, she makes sure she drinks at least a gallon of water per day. Also in her diet, you’ll find lots of fruits and veggies.
You know a girl with hydration on the brain also moisturizes. In an interview with Vogue Australia, she shared that she moisturizes with pure shea butter. Although it’s sort of a thick consistency, Bridget will be the first one to tell you it’ll make your skin glow!
2. Wash, Tone, Moisturize
No one can deny Selena Gomez’s natural beauty. In an interview with Allure, she said:
“I love to do three easy things in the morning: I’ll wash my face, I’ll usually tone it, and then I’ll put a little bit of moisturizer on it, not tons because I have really oily skin.”
She also mentions that she washes her face every night before going to bed. It sounds like common sense, but a lot of women don’t take their makeup off before they go to sleep at night! Not only will this clog your pores, but it’ll also age your skin.
3. Put on Sunblock Every Day
Sofia Vergara shared some of her beauty secrets with People Magazine. She made the point that, even back in her 20s, she started putting sunblock on her face. Despite her best efforts, she has one regret. She wishes someone told her to put it on her neck, too!
While that may seem like a lot of product – toner, moisturizer, sunblock – you can purchase foundation that has sunblock mixed into its formula. Then, if you’re taking a page from Sofia, you can also apply basic sunscreen to your neck and decolletage.
4. Wear a Mask While Your Hair Is Setting
Actress Margot Robbie shared with Vogue UK one of her favorite products (that she wasn’t paid to advertise). It’s called 111 Skin Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Mask.
Whenever she’s preparing for a big event, she’ll put on one of their sheet masks while her stylist does her hair. Then, she removes the mask, feeling fresh-faced, and starts her makeup routine. That’s another trick that sounds easy enough!
5. Try a Hand Mitt
Suki Waterhouse shared an interesting tidbit with Harper’s Bazaar. She said that, whenever she’s traveling, she slathers her hands in Weleda Skin Food and then puts them in a hand mitt.
She falls asleep on the plane and wakes to luxuriously smooth hands. If you try an anti-aging lotion, this could do your hands wonders. After all, our hands are one of the first body parts to show signs of aging.
6. Consider Using a Jade Roller
Jade rollers have become all the rage. They look like little razors, but they’re actually smooth, round gemstones that you roll across your face. Some of the benefits include smaller pores, increased blood circulation, and a reduction in puffiness.
It felt like the world stopped turning when Alicia Keys joined the #nomakeup movement. Nowadays, tongues wag at her stunning natural beauty. Alicia’s makeup artist told W Magazine she dips Alicia’s jade roller in ice until it’s freezing cold. Then, she places cucumber slices on any problem areas. This two-step process sure seems to be working!
7. Exfoliate
It seems like a lot of celebrities cherish clean, moisturized skin. But singer Camila Cabello also relies on exfoliation. In an interview with Vogue, she says she does it every day.
Given her intense travel schedule, Camila points out how much make-up, sweat, and dirt gets on her skin on any given day. So, a good exfoliating body wash is just the ticket.
Camila says she exfoliates every day and then follows it up with a honey moisturizer. Honey must be her go-to because she also commented on honey masks and clay masks.
